SUMMARY:8th International Flame Chemistry Workshop
LOCATION:Doshisha University, Shinmachi Campus , Giappone, 〒602-0047 Kyoto, Kamigyo Ward, Konoedenomotecho, 159-1, Kyoto
DESCRIPTION:8th International Flame Chemistry Workshop\n\n07/25/26 08:00 AM JAP\n - 07/26/26 06:00 PM JAP\Description:\nthe 8th International Flame Chemistry Workshop (FCWS) will take place on 25–26 July 2026, as a satellite event of the 41st International Symposium on Combustion, in Kyoto, Japan, continuing the FCWS tradition of providing a focused forum for in-depth discussion within the combustion chemistry community.\nThe workshop will be held jointly with other satellite workshops at Shinmachi-Campus of Doshisha University which is located 5 metro stops away from the Symposium venue.\nThe objective of this workshop is to bring together leading experts and early career researchers in combustion chemistry, flame science, chemical kinetics modeling, plasma chemistry, and diagnostics. Building on the discussions from the 7thFlame Chemistry Workshop held in Milan in July 2024, we aim to initiate a coordinated community effort to address key challenges identified therein. We would be delighted if you could contribute your expertise to this important initiative.\nThe workshop will focus on five interconnected topical areas:\n\n\n	Sustainable fuels combustion\n	Advanced diagnostics for combustion measurements\n	Plasma-assisted combustion\n	AI, automation, benchmarking, and knowledge transfer in theoretical kinetics\n	Progress and accuracy in chemical kinetics mechanism development\n\nThe program will include invited oral contributions covering current challenges and providing inputs for collective actions in these areas, as well as a poster session aligned with the workshop themes. Poster abstracts will be solicited from the community soon.\nA joint session with the Rapid Compression Machine Workshop will be scheduled for the morning of the 25th, to discuss common challenges and share best practices of community driven efforts.\nDiscussions and oral contributions at the 8th FCWS will be guided by a recently published perspective paper (see attached file) summarizing the outcomes of the 7th FCWS (Milan, 2024).\nMore detailed information will be shared soon, including the agenda, registration costs and deadline, list of invited speakers, abstract templates and deadlines for poster presentations.\nFor registration instructions, please refer to the Symposium website.\n \Details:\nDuration: Saturday 25th - all day + light dinner reception and poster session. Sunday 26th until early afternoon (3 pm)\nCosts and deadlines for registration: to be announced soon.\n\nPosters and poster abstract:\n- Poster abstract submission deadline 12th of June 2026\n- Poster abstract should be submitted to matteo.pelucchi@polimi.it (Matteo Pelucchi) and byang@tsinghua.edu.cn (Bin Yang)\n- Poster abstract template and instruction is available here and as an attached file to this announcement. \n- Poster number is limited to to logistics reasons, selection will be made on a first-come-first-served basis\n- WiPP submitted to the 41st ISOC are also accepted\n- Poster format is the same as WiPP at the 41st ISOC\n\nVenue (Doshisha University, Shimachi Campus):\nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/vHz931zeYZuJHeNz8 \n\n \Location:\nDoshisha University, Shinmachi Campus \nGiappone, 〒602-0047 Kyoto, Kamigyo Ward, Konoedenomotecho, 159-1\nKyoto,
