The Nordic Flame Days is the Nordic meeting point for everybody involved in combustion processes or other thermal conversion-related processes. Some of the successful events were held previously in 2015 (Copenhagen), 2017 (Stockholm), 2019 (Turku), and 2023 (Trondheim). The Combustion Institute, Scandinavian-Nordic Section (CINS), Swedish Flame Research Committee (SFRC), and Finnish Thermal Energy Research Association (FTERA) are pleased to announce that the Nordic Flame Days 2025 will take place on the 26th and 27th of November in Copenhagen, Denmark. A CINS topical meeting on carbon capture and utilization in energy systems, will be arranged during the Nordic Flame Days 2025.
The Nordic Flame Days program will combine social and technical activities, including keynotes and technical presentations on recent progress made in topics such as but not limited to:
Reaction kinetics of combustion
Laminar and turbulent flames
Flexibility of thermal fuel conversion systems
Pyrolysis, gasification, and combustion of solid fuels
Droplet and spray combustion
Combustion in internal combustion engines and gas turbines
Propulsion
Fire safety
High-temperature synthesis of materials
Fuel characterisation
Combustion diagnostics
Emission control and CO2 mitigation
Ash management and corrosion
Thematic topic - carbon capture and utilization in energy systems
The deadline to submit an abstract is 5 September. Please follow the Submit Abstract link below to access the Nordic Flames Day submission page. more info...
The Singapore Section of the Combustion Institute (SSCI) is delighted to announce the 1st SSCI Annual Combustion Meeting, to be held on 9 December 2025, at the LT6, National University of Singapore. This inaugural meeting aims to bring together professionals, researchers, and students from academia, industry, and government across Singapore. It will serve as a platform to share the latest research, foster collaboration, and discuss the future of combustion science and its role in addressing local and global energy and environmental challenges. The theme of the meeting is “Power a Net-Zero and Sustainable Future”. The program will feature technical sessions for oral presentations and a poster session to highlight major research achievements and emerging trends within our community. more info...

2026 Spring Technical Meeting of the Western States Section of The Combustion Institute
The Western States Section of The Combustion Institute (WSSCI) is a non-profit educational and scientific society whose purpose is to promote the science and application of combustion for the benefit of society. The 2026 Spring Technical Meeting of the Western States Section of The Combustion Institute will be held 23 – 24 March 2026 at Oregon State University in Portland, Oregon.
The 2026 Spring Technical Meeting of the Central States Section of The Combustion Institute will be held in person, 17 through 19 May 2026 in West Lafayette, Indiana. The meeting is hosted by Purdue University. This is the continuation of a series of technical meetings that have been held, in person or virtually, since 1966.
The event will consist of an opening reception, plenary seminars, technical talks, a combustion art competition, an undergraduate research competition, and a banquet event. There will also be tours to Purdue Zucrow Labs in the afternoon on May 19th, 2026.
The Central States Section of The Combustion Institute gratefully acknowledged sponsorship from Rolls Royce, En’Urga Inc., Forberg Smith, and Superior Measurement Solutions, Inc. We continue accepting sponsorship. To sponsor this event, please contact Steve Son (sson@purdue.edu).
