Members of the international combustion community recognized by their peers as distinguished for outstanding contributions to combustion, whether it be in research or in applications, may be designated Fellows of The Combustion Institute. This lifetime honorific title confers no special rights, privileges or duties. Submissions Procedure:
To be eligible for consideration, all nominations require:

  • Completion of all fields listed below: 
    • For areas of research, please select from: 1Gas-Phase Reaction Kinetics, 2. Heterogeneous Combustion, 3. Flame Dynamics and Transport Processes, 4. Detonation, 5. Diagnostics, 6. Numerical Combustion, 7. Turbulent Flames, 8. Fire, 9. Explosions Hazards, Detonation Applications and Supersonic Combustion, 10. Propulsion, 11. Combustion Technology, 12. Emission Mitigation from Flames, 13. Low-Carbon Technologies
    • For Number of Publications, please use only those published in the last 10 years
  • A nominating letter and no more than two support letters (two pages maximum each)*
    • Nominator and supporters must be members of The Combustion Institute
    • If the nominee is an Industry member, one supporting letter may be provided by a non-member if necessary to provide crucial information/support
  • Curriculum vitae (four pages maximum)*, to include:
    • a list of the most impactful papers published in CI-affiliated journals**
    • a list of other selected papers (ten papers maximum)
    • a statement about involvement in International Symposia on Combustion and CI Section meetings
    • for technology-based nominees, an explanation of how the nominee was the creator, lead contributor, or a key contributor to a major advance(s) in combustion technology
    • a citation of at most 20 words

*A font size of at least 11 pt. or 12 pt. is recommended, but no smaller than 10 pt. should be used 

**For Fellows nominations, CI-affiliated journals are: Proceedings of The Combustion Institute (PROCI), Combustion and Flame (CNF), Combustion Theory and Modelling (CTM), Combustion Science and Technology (CST), Progress in Energy and Combustion Science (PECS), and Applications in Energy and Combustion Science (JAECS).
